Urea, also known as nitrogen (N) fertilizer, has a nitrogen content of 46%. Urea is produced through a reaction process between ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2) in a chemical process to form solid urea in the form of prills (size 1 - 3.35 mm) or granules (size 2 - 4.75 mm). Prill urea is widely used for food crops and industrial segments, while granular urea is more suitable for the plantation and industrial segments.
Pupuk Kaltim's Urea is marketed under Daun Buah brand for the non-subsidized sector, with white fertilizer granules and packaging variations of 2 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg and 50 kg. Meanwhile, subsidized urea is distributed under the brand of Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company, which has pink fertilizer granules and is packaged in 50 kg.
Pupuk Kaltim has five Urea plants, namely Plant 1A, Plant 2, Plant 3, Plant 4, and Plant 5. Urea PrillS are produced by Plant 2 and Plant 3, while Urea Granules are produced by Plant 1A, Plant 4, and Plant 5. The total capacity reaches 3.43 million tons of Urea per year.

Ammonia is used as a raw material in the chemical industry. The ammonia produced by Pupuk Kaltim is marketed in liquid form at -33°C with a minimum purity of 99.5% and a mixture (impurity) with up to 0.5% water content.
Ammonia is formed from natural gas as raw material which is reacted with air and water vapor and gradually processed at high temperature and pressure through several catalyst-containing reactors. Pupuk Kaltim has five Ammonia plants, namely Plant 1A, Plant 2, Plant 3, Plant 4, and Plant 5. The total capacity reaches 2.74 million tons of Ammonia per year.
NPK fertilizer produced by Pupuk Kaltim consists of two types, namely NPK Blending and NPK Fusion. NPK is made in various compositions, according to the needs of the plant and the type of soil. This type of fertilizer contains three macro nutrients needed by plants. The raw materials for NPK are urea, DAP (Diammonium phosphate)/RP (Rock phosphate), KCl (Potassium chloride), and other materials in the form of high quality micronutrients.
The Company has two NPK plants with two processing technologies. The NPK Blending plant has a production capacity of 150,000 tons per year, while the NPK Fusion plant 200,000 tons per year. Thus, the total production capacity of NPK is 350,000 tons. Non-subsidized NPK fertilizers are marketed under NPK Pelangi brand. At the end of 2020, the packaging for NPK Pelangi underwent a visual change as shown in the pictures, and had a variety of packages of 2 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg and 50 kg.
NPK Pelangi fertilizer consists of two types, namely NPK Blending and NPK Fusion. The Blending-type NPK Pelangi is produced through a mechanical blending process and formed from high quality raw materials i.e. urea granules, DAP (Diammonium Phospate) and KCL Flake, as well as fillers such as Mg and Ca so that the granules are colorful
Meanwhile, the Fusion-type NPK Pelangi is produced through a steam granulation process so that it has homogeneous fertilizer granules containing N, P and K elements in one grain. The advantage of NPK Pelangi is that it can be formulated very flexibly according to customer needs, and is proven to be able to increase crop yields.

Subsidized NPK is also marketed under NPK Pelangi brand, specifically for cocoa commodity, which is distributed in the provinces of South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and Central Sulawesi and packaged in 50 kg.

Ecofert is a type of biofertilizer enriched with superior microorganisms that are beneficial for soil fertility, and can be used for food crops, horticulture and plantations. Ecofert is in the form of granules, gray in color, with packaging variations of 1 kg, 5 kg, and 20 kg. Ecofert contains the active materials of Aspergillus niger, Pseudomonas mendocina, Bacillus subtilis and Bacollus flexus. Some of the advantages obtained through the use of Ecofert are to increase the availability of N and P nutrients, stimulate plant growth, increase soil nutrient absorption, and increase fertilization efficiency so that it can save up to 25% of NPK fertilizer from the standard dose with a dose of Ecofert usage of 20 - 40 kg/ha at the time of tillage.
Biotara is a biofertilizer that is adaptive to acid soils in swamps that can increase plant productivity. Biotara contains the active materials of Trichoderma sp., Bacillus sp, dan Azospirillum sp. Biotara is in powder form, dark brown in color, with a variety of packaging of 2.5 kg, 10 kg and 12.5 kg. Some of the advantages of Biotara include being able to bind N and P nutrients in the soil, decomposing organic matter residues, increasing plant growth, increasing fertilization efficiency, especially N and P up to 30% and increasing rice yields up to 20% in swamps. The dosage of Biotara is 25 kg/ha at the time of tillage.
Biodex is a bioactivator that breaks down organic matter. Biodex is formed using superior microbial active materials that have high cellulolytic and lignolytic abilities, such as Trichoderma polysporum, T. viride, and Fomitopsis meliae, so that the composting time is relatively shorter. Biodex is in the form of blackish brown powder and is currently sold in 2.5 kg packaging. Biodex has several advantages, namely it is suitable for solid organic waste, does not require additional nutrients, does not need to be turned over during the composting process and is suitable for tropical areas, with a dosage of 2.5 - 5 kg/ton of organic matter.
BIO LK is a biofertilizer with the active materials of Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp. which is applied for seed treatment and can be used on all plant seeds. BIO LK is specially formulated to assist plants in dealing with drought stress or low water content. BIO LK is in the form of blackish brown powder and has a variety of packaging of 100 gr, 250 gr and 500 gr. BIO LK is applied at a dose of 500 g for 1 hectare seed requirement.
BIO Salin is a biofertilizer with the active material of Pseudomonas sp. which is applied for seed treatment and can be used on all plant seeds. BIO Salin is specially formulated to assist plants in dealing with high salt (salin) stress such as in coastal areas and in flooded lands (swamps).
